FASTData January 1999 Release
FDMS: There are two links here. The first links to the exchange file which is an ASCII file of the test data in FDMS format. The second link is a link to a list file. If the proper associations have been made, clicking on the list file will start up the Helper Application that allows the data to be saved in various formats.
Documentation Abstract: Gives a link to a web page with the abstract of the document associated with the tests. On the abstract page there is a link to a PDF version of the document.
Material: List the material burned in the experiment. For bench scale tests such as the cone calorimeter and real scale tests such as the furniture calorimeter this is the product actually being tested. For real scale tests that are measuring the impact of fire on a structure then the material is the product burned to generate fire in the structure. If a composite of several different materials was burned in the experiment then the materials will be separated by a "\".
Lab: The Laboratory that conducted the test. For most bench scale and some real scale tests the lab is usually the actual place the test was conducted. Some tests, such as fire tests performed in buildings awaiting demolition, the lab supplied the expertise and possibly the equipment to do the test.
Sponsor: The sponsor is the organization that funded the experiments.
Date: The date the test was conducted.
Test Ref No.: The test reference number is for identification of repeated tests in the same series. It is usually assigned by the laboratory conducting the test.
Scientific Officer: The person in charge of the test program for which the test was conducted. This is the person to contact with questions about this particular test or the program the test was a part of.
Tested By: The person who actually conducted the test.
SECTIONS
Test Results (summary): There are two possible sections with this heading. For Cone tests the first section with this heading includes the most important values from the cone test such as Peak Heat Release Rate. The other section, included in all tests, is a selection of plots of measurements made during the test. The number and types of plots selected does not indicate all the measurements made in the test, but just a few representative plots.
Test Results: This is a section reserved only for the cone calorimeter tests. It gives scalar test values that are to be reported according to the standards of the test.
Summary Data from Ignition: This is a section reserved only for the cone calorimeter tests. It includes standard statistics used to summarize various measurements made during the test. These statistics include the total test mean of values such as the heat release rate as well as the 60, 180, and 300 second means of the same measurements .
Observations and Comments: All comments included in the exchange file for the test are included here.
Details of the Test Procedure Used: This section is also reserved only for the cone calorimeter tests. It details the major conditions such as the heat flux used during the test.
Test Quality Indicators: This section includes the indicators of the level of documentation and review the test has undergone. A more complete discussion is given in the the document Data Structures for the Fire Data Management System, FDMS 2.0.
