Abstract:
This report presents available information on 57 fatal
U.S. fires occurring during 1971 to 1992 and recorded in
the National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA's) Fire
Incident Data Organization (FIDO) as fires of technical
interest in "board and care" homes. It is an update of
a report prepared in 1990 and adds nine incidents to
that earlier study. It is part of a larger project on
fire safety in board and care homes. The information
has been organized into three tables. Included is
information on: death tools, construction details, code
compliance, occupant behaviors, fire development and
building fire protection systems.
