Abstract:
Researchers at the National Institute of Standards and
Technology's (NIST) Building and Fire Laboratory (BFRL)
are working with the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA);
the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF); and
the U.S. Department of Justice to provide a more
scientific basis for the investigation of fire. This
article will provide an overview of where the state of
the art research is and where it may lead us.
