Abstract:
Construction is one of the nation's largest industries
and a critical asset for enhancing the international
competitiveness of U.S. industry. In 1994, the combined
value of new construction, renovation, maintenance and
repair was about $847 billion, representing 13 percent
of the gross domestic product, and the industry provided
10 million jobs.
