Abstract:
The prediction of the concrete rheological properties is
essential for the correct use of the material. The
composition of the concrete is nowadays complex. It is
not limited to cement, aggregates and water but also
includes admixtures and fillers. Therefore it is
necessary to be able to optimize the composition of a
concrete on a simpler system and in a laboratory. The
method that is presented here, will allow to conduct
measurements on cement paste, containing admixtures and
fillers, and to predict the behavior of the concrete.
The prediction should be possible at two levels:
qualitative and quantitative. At the qualitative level,
the values of the concrete rheological properties of the
concrete cannot be predicted but the ranking of the
various composition considered is the same in cement
paste and concrete. At the quantitative level, a
computer simulation is necessary to obtain the values of
the concrete viscosity from the measurements on the
cement paste or mortar. The two approaches will be
presented here and some examples will be provided.
